The Journal

First published in 2006, Chroniques du manuscrit au Yémen focus on manuscripts presently in Yemen and on those which, although originating there, are now elsewhere. The journal has been published online by the French Center for Archaeology and Social Sciences in Sanaa (CEFAS) until 2014. It contains news and papers written in French and English and translated into Arabic. In the last years, the Journal has opened its columns to the manuscripts of the Arabian Peninsula, in respect of the geographical area of the CEFAS.

“Manuscripts” is understood in its broadest sense and without limitations of period. All possible approaches to manuscripts are welcome (text edition, codicology, art of the book, cataloging, digitization, conservation, ...).

The headings

As a chronicle, this Journal provides information about manuscripts and, beyond that, about International events concerning manuscripts in general under its heading “Actualités du manuscrit”, i.e. News. Presentations of major projects are published on a separate page from time to time.

Two unpublished short articles with illustrations are posted in each issue under the heading “Textes”, i.e. Texts.

A newly created heading of philological content, “Fenêtre sur”, appearing irregularly, is an open window on branches of History, the methodology of which is close to palaeographic and textual studies, again from the same geographical area.

Electronic edition policies
